The Vault - Kenosha, Wi
The building where The Vault is located has multiple businesses in it today. But back when it was built, it was the Kenosha National Bank Building. While it's said it was built in 1928, during researching into old fire maps of Kenosha, the building shows the date of 1927.
Before it was the bank, it was known as "Vanty" Lippert's barn. At the time, the street names were also different and this corner was known as Park Street (now 57th Street) and Church Street (now known as Seventh Avenue). It was not a livery barn but more of a feeding stable where farmers could shelter and feed horses during any stays or visits into the city. Around 1926, Seventh Avenue was widened and the streets were renamed. Market Street became 56th Street, Church Street became Seventh Avenue.
In May of 1947, WLIP started airing on the radio and their station was located in the basement of the bank building. The original owner was William Lipman and at it's start only was on the air during the daytime and didn't start airing 24 hours a day until 1987. A week after their debut, a local electrician named Regnar B. Jensen climbed up the 240 foot tower as a dare from some co-workers.
